Position: Certified Medical Assistant

Reports to: Office Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient support and communication and facilitating an exceptional patient experience to build and reinforce satisfaction, trust, and drive organizational loyalty. Accountable for initiating and preparing the patient for their appointment, the Medical Assistant informs patients of relevant and required information for their visit and provides clear communication around the services they are scheduled to receive. While this role will be dynamic in nature, key responsibilities and expectations of the position include:

  • Answers phones and assists with intake and scheduling.
  • Performs medical histories, provides instruction to the patient regarding medications and diet, and authorizes prescription refills as directed.
  • Prepares patients for examination using Iris Health Guidelines.
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by the Physician/Nurse Practitioner; performs basic laboratory tests, EKGs as ordered or indicated, suture removal, and dressing changes.
  • Prepares, cleans, and maintains supplies and equipment. Background and Educational Requirements:
  • Medical Assistant Certification required
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Must have current BLS certification for healthcare providers through American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Must have High School Diploma
  • Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or ER preferred Behavioral Competencies:
